Olympics Race To Another Ratings Win
The Winter Olympics continued to dominate network television on Monday -- drawing an average primetime audience of 25.49 million -- 9 percent larger than that for the first Monday of the 2006 competition. Nevertheless, the stunning ratings did not significantly come at the expense of other networks airing new episodes. ABC's the bachelor On the Wings of Love , for example, dropped just 7 percent from last week to 11.42 million, while Fox's 24 drew 8.49 million viewers, down 16.6 percent. (However, it should be pointed out that 24 followed a repeat of House , which does not fare well in repeats.) CBS aired a full slate of repeats and saw its numbers drop accordingly. The real test of the Olympics' strength comes tonight (Tuesday), when it faces its strongest competition to date, including Fox's American Idol , an original episode of ABC's Lost , and repeats of CBS's NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles.
