Adam Sandler may still be smarting from the critical panning that his latest flick 'Jack and Jill' received, but the Hollywood star will certainly be in demand this week when America celebrates Thanksgiving.
With the big opening of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1, Sandler's latest comedy about a man who dreads the yearly festive visit of his needy twin sister, got left behind. It was the first film in years to register a score of zero on reviews aggregating website Rotten Tomatoes, with critic Mary F Pols writing in Time magazine, "More than 24 hours has passed since I watched the new Adam Sandler movie Jack and Jill and I am still dead inside". However, at least the actor can rest safe in the knowledge that millions will be listening to his music come Thanksgiving on Thursday (24 November 2011). The actor's comical Thanksgiving Song, first composed over 10 years ago, has become somewhat of a tradition amongst Americans. Adam first sang the tune in front of a live audience on Saturday Night Live, but the song soon went viral and delighted fans with its comical tale of turkey - the lyrics include, "Love to eat turkey, Cause it's good, Love to eat turkey, Like a good boy should, Cause it's turkey to eat, So good, Turkey for me, Turkey for you, Let's eat the turkey, In my big brown shoe, Love to eat the turkey, At the table, I once saw a movie, With Betty Grable, Eat that turkey, All night long".
The Thanksgiving Song is a predecessor to Sandler's more popular holiday ditty, "The Chanukah Song".
