British soul singer Adele has hit back at criticisms of her Bob Dylan cover MAKE YOU FEEL MY LOVE, insisting she has "saved" the folk legend by making him a fortune in royalties.
The Chasing Pavements star recorded a rendition of the 1997 song for her 2008 breakthrough album 19, and the cover version reappeared in the U.K. charts last year (10) after it was featured on Britain's biggest TV talent show The X Factor.
And the London-born singer is adamant she hasn't harmed Dylan's reputation by recording her bluesy version - revealing he can expect a $1.5 million (£1 million) pay day from her cover alone.
She tells Britain's The Sun, "Someone told me the other day they read online that I killed Bob Dylan with Make You Feel My Love. I actually think I've saved him.
"He's going to get $1 million out of that song. He's going to get a big pay cheque at the end of the year. I reckon, with the amount it's been played on the radio and the sales of about 400,000 since it was on The X Factor, it's worth a lot to him.
"Maybe he'll buy me a watch or something."

I ve always loved this song and prefer Bob`s version although Adele made a great job of bringing it to the fore since it was from an album released 14 years ago. What bothered me was when others` constantly referred to it as "Adele`s song" and Dylan wasn t even mentioned. As for `saving` him well.....eh whit? Perhaps the wee lassie should rethink her fixation with money and realise Bobby was saved a long time ago!

I love Adele's version-I think she added something to the song as did Patti Smith's "Changing of the Guard cover.I am a huge Dylan fan and mostly I prefer Dylan to anyone that covers him but Adele's track is gorgeous and gives the song more pathos than Dylan's version which I kind of vaguely felt ambivalent about.(and that is an unusual thing for me)Now when I hear Dylan sing this song I like it more."Saving" him is a little off the wall though- Bob needs no saving being the most covered artist in history if I remember correctly. (dylancovers.com) Its over 30,000 now- that sounds wildly high, maybe I'm wrong.anyway-I don't get it- why anyone would criticize her given the huge amount of covers- some of which are truly lousy.
