Adele is pregnant with her first child. The 24-year-old multi-Grammy award winner announced the news in a post on her website, saying that she and boyfriend Simon Konecki were over the moon.
The singer-songwriter - who has managed to keep her relationship with Konecki relatively private considering her level of fame - said, "I'm delighted to announce that Simon [Konecki] and I are expecting our first child together.I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx". It will be the first child for the London born singer - now considered to be amongst the most successful female artists on the planet - though Konecki already has a daughter from a previous marriage. He accompanied Adele to the Grammys in February, where she won the six awards that she was nominated for. Later that month, Adele revealed to People magazine that her goal was to have three children by the time she hit 30, saying, "I really want to be a mum.I better start getting on with it!". It looks as though she's well and truly on target for that goal.
Adele's sophomore album '21' has performed phenomenally in the charts since its release in early 2011. Featuring singles such as 'Rolling in the Deep' and the smash-hit 'Someone Like You', the album has sold over 22 million copies to date, rescuing the flagging music industry in both the UK and U.S. Earlier this month, it regained the top spot on the Billboard 200 Chart for the 24th time. It's rare for a record to battle its way back to No.1, though Adele has bucked the trend.
