Adele plans to release a new single later this year.

The 'Someone Like You' hitmaker - whose debut album '19' came out in 2008 followed by 2011 record '21' - will bring out a song at the end of 2012, but she is not expecting a complete a full album for a ''good two years''.

When asked if her fans will have to wait until 2014 for new material, she replied: ''I'm not going on a break for that long. There was a good two years between my first and second album, so it will be the same this time.

''There will be a new song probably coming out at the end of the year, and then it depends how quickly I write some new songs - but it won't be for a good two years.''

Adele - who won six Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards earlier this year - would release another album ''next week'' if she didn't insist on writing all of her own material, but she likes to take her time penning lyrics.

Speaking in an interview with French radio station NRJ, she added: ''I have to write another record, if I didn't write my own songs I'd be out next week with a new album, but because I write my own songs I have to take time and live a little bit.''
