Karl Lagerfeld didn't get to where he is today by holding back on what he thought of people, and the veteran German fashion designer has been in truly cutting form whilst being interviewed for the French edition of the Metro newspaper, risking particular ire by taking a pot shot at current global pop sensation of the moment Adele, having described her as "a little too fat."
The press have already been outraged by this, though Lagerfeld did follow up his comment with some positive words about the 23 year-old, stating "she has a beautiful face and a divine voice," also giving her his personal preference over latest chart topper Lana Del Rey. However, insulting a hugely successful woman, is potentially small fry to taking the rise out of roughly 50% of one of the largest countries in Europe. That's exactly who else Lagerfield went and offended though, by stating that all Russian men were "very ugly." "If I was a woman in Russia I would be a lesbian, as the men are very ugly," he stated, "There are a few handsome ones, like Naomi Campbell's boyfriend, but there you see the most beautiful women and the most horrible men."
Others in the firing line involved Mia ("Nowadays people give the middle finger quite quickly - it's not the best behavior,") the Greek economic crisis ("they have really disgusting habits") and politicians in general ("I will never vote. I know too much about politics from what's going on backstage.") Typically it's the Adele quote that is getting the most attention, particularly with the Grammys upon us.
