Alec Baldwin has been thrown off an American Airlines flight, but it wasn't for the standard Hollywood excuse of being drunk or obnoxious; no, Baldwin was using an electronic device to play a Scrabble-like game with the plane yet to take off. People Magazine reported that the actor took to Twitter upon his eviction from the craft yesterday (December 6, 2011), writing "Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing Words W Friends while we sat at the gate, not moving."
Baldwin's exit did not go unnoticed, not least because the rest of the flight's passengers were also forced off the flight for a little while - among those who did so was none other than former boxing World Middleweight Champion Oscar De La Hoya. The former Golden Boy of the sport however was sympathetic towards the 53 year-old, with the Los Angeles Times reporting that he told reporters "I actually felt Alec Baldwin was turning off his devices and he just got a little angry."
Baldwin's people issued their own statement too, saying "Alec was asked to leave the flight for playing Words with Friends while parked the gate. He loves Wwf so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it, but he has already boarded another AA flight." American Airlines stuck to their guns however, tweeting "Our flight attendants followed federal safety regulations regarding electronic devices, we do our best to treat all customers with the utmost respect regardless of who they are".
