Alex Pettyfer's 'Endless Love' remake will be released in time for Valentine's Day.

The heartthrob actor will star alongside 'The Three Musketeers' beauty Gabrielle Wilde in Universal's upcoming romantic drama, which will be released in February 2014 - just in time for the romantic holiday, Deadline reports.

Pettyfer and Wilde will take on the roles made famous by Martin Hewett and Brooke Shields in the 1981 Franco Zeffierlli-directed original, which follows high-school students David Axelrod and Jade Butterfield whose intense relationship becomes troubled and dangerous.

The film was written by Shana Feste and Joshua Safran - with Feste directing - and boasts a host of co-stars including Joely Richardson, Robert Patrick, Bruce Greenwood, Rhys Wakefield, Dayo Okeniyi and Emma Rigby.

Bluegrass Films' Scott Stuber and Pamela Abdy are set to produce alongside Fake Empire's Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz.

The film faces competition on its opening date in the form of Sony and Screen Gems' re-imagining of '80s flick 'About Last Night', Fox's sci-fi thriller 'The Maze Runner' and 'Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters' from The Weinstein Company.

Wilde can next be seen in the Chloe Grace Moretz-starring remake of horror film 'Carrie', while Pettyfer's next role is Thomas Westfall in Lee Daniels' drama 'The Butler' alongside Robin Williams, John Cusack and Alan Rickman.
