Alfie star Jane Asher has come under fire from anti-drug campaigners for calling for the legalisation of all drugs to stamp out addiction.
The British actress, who once dated Sir Paul MCCartney, argued that authorities' "only hope" of ending the war on drugs would be to allow adults to freely use narcotics.
But bosses at Britain's National Drugs Prevention Alliance (NDPA) are furious over her remarks, branding them "irrational".
NDPA boss David Raynes says, "If we legalise drugs it will simply lead to more drugs, not less. What she is saying is irrational. She doesn't put forward a rational argument for legalisation. We should be stopping people using them."
