Amanda Bynes could soon have her day in court.

The 27-year-old actress has been deemed fit to stand trial after her DUI arrest (Driving Under the Influence) in 2012, despite being diagnosed as a schizophrenic with bipolar disorder.

A source told TMZ yesterday (20.11.13): ''Amanda's case was in Mental Health Court this AM, and the judge read the court-ordered medical evaluation of the actress, and determined she is now competent to face the DUI charges.

''Amanda's lawyer, Rich Hutton, did not object to the findings so the criminal case - which was put on hold - will not go forward.''

A conservatorship is being sought for the former Nickelodeon star who was originally scheduled to appear in court on September 24, regarding her April 2012 arrest in West Hollywood, but she failed to turn up and the case was pushed back.

Amanda was placed in a 5150 psychiatric hold back in July after she set a fire on the driveway of a stranger in her hometown of Thousand Oaks, California.

The actress has since been treated in a private facility in Los Angeles and will reportedly be home for Christmas and the case could yet be settled in a plea bargain.

A source said: ''Amanda's meds and psychological counselling have sufficiently stabilised her so her doctors will let her leave the Malibu rehab facility.''

Before Amanda's health troubles, she had an enviable career, having started off as a child actress she went on to star in films such as 'What A Girl Wants', 'Hairspray' and 'Easy A'.
