Amanda Seyfried is in talks to star in 'The Most Wonderful Time'.

The 27-year-old actress is reportedly in negotiations to take on a lead role in the heart-warming holiday comedy alongside Alan Arkin and Diane Keaton, according to The Wrap.

The story will follow a long-term married couple, Charlotte (Keaton) and Sam (Arkin), who have been growing apart over the years and decide to host their final Christmas celebration before revealing to their loved ones that they're separating.

However, as their grown children return for the festive season with their own relationship issues, the entire family begin to share memories and Charlotte and Sam start to question their decision to end their marriage.

Jessie Nelson is directing the movie from a script penned by Steven Rogers, while Ryan Kavanaugh is producing alongside Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Kim Roth.

While Tucker Tooley will executive produce the film with Ron Burkle, and Jason Colbeck.

The film hasn't been given an official release date yet, but it is expected to be finished by the end of 2014.
