Amanda Seyfried didn't audition for 'Into the Woods' because it was ''so hard''.

The 29-year-old actress had been planning to go for the part of Cinderella - which subsequently went to Anna Kendrick - in the fairytale movie musical but eventually decided not to even try out for the part.

She admitted: ''I was working on 'On the Steps of the Palace' with my voice coach.

''I remember one day I was singing it and I was like, 'No. I can't. I can't do it - I can't get it. This is so hard. I'm not auditioning for it.' ''

While she didn't go for that role, the 'Les Miserables' star is dreaming of playing Glinda in a movie adaptation of Broadway show 'Wicked' - a musical based on the events before 'The Wizard of Oz' - which producer Marc Platt is planning for 2016.

She told 'Entertainment Tonight': ''I might be too old when they make it. Or if they make it sooner than later, maybe I'm not the right person.

''I just still- I want it. I want to present myself and be a good candidate.''
