Amanda Seyfried believes she started a rumour about a sequel to 'Mamma Mia!' by telling people she had heard a script was complete.
Amanda Seyfried began the rumour about a second 'Mamma Mia!' movie.
The 24-year-old actress, who played the lead role of Sophie Sheridan in the comedy musical, admits she may have been loose lipped about the sequel, but confirms one is not in the works.
She said: "I started sharing a rumour that I heard that there was a 'Mamma Mia! 2' and then in October, all of these people in London were telling me that there is actually a script and everything.
"It's just not going to happen. And Pierce recently said that it wasn't going to happen either. So sadly, no, but at least we ended on a high note."
The star also denied claims she had asked for $7.5 million if the studio wanted her to appear in the sequel.
She told movie website Cinema Blend: "Apparently someone said - this was bulls**t - that I'd asked for $7.5 million. I would love $7.5 million, but I don't think it'd be right to ask for that for 'Mamma Mia! 2'."
Amanda has a number of movie roles in the pipeline - she will soon begin promotion for romantic comedy 'Letters to Juliet' with Vanessa Redgrave and Gael Garcia Bernal, before filming 'Albert Nobbs' and 'A Woman of No Importance', both due for release in 2011.
