The Glee actress Amber Riley has announced that she is leaving the show at the end of the current series. The 26 year-old actress, who plays the role of Mercedes, posted a message on her Twitter page at the end of filming, which read "That's a wrap on Amber Riley! Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I've known day in and day out for three years. I'm going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them everyday! I have so many brothers and sisters now :) But I am looking forward to a much needed and deserved summer vacation! School's Out Glee Kids! Let's play!"
Her character Mercedes is one of several that are due to graduate MCKinley High School at the end of the current season. However, the show's producers have not made any official announcements to say who stays and who goes, in terms of the casting. It is thought that Dianna Agron may also be leaving, as she posted a more cryptic tweet, saying "I don't know all that is to come, but I know what a day like this means. Four years of love, light and support. To the cast, crew and creators and to all of you that have shown your love along the way. We just can't thank you enough."
Amber was in the news recently when she collapsed on the red carpet at an Academy screening of Glee. She lashed at out some media outlets who suggested that she was diabetic, or had been starving herself. She, however, blamed the collapse on the intensity of the photographers' flashbulbs.
