A former contestant on hit reality show American Idol has been indicted on child pornography charges after being accused of videotaping sexual encounters with two teenage girls. Daniel James 'DJ' BOYD pleaded not guilty on Tuesday (11JUL06) in the US District Court in Salt Lake City, Utah, to production of child pornography and possession of child pornography charges. Boyd, who was a contestant on the popular show two years ago (04), was arrested last month (JUN06) in West Valley City, Utah, after a 14-year-old girl contacted police. He has remained in jail ever since. The Salt Lake County district attorney's office has also charged Boyd with unlawful sexual activity with a minor and unlawful supply of alcohol to minors. Prosecutors in the case claim Boyd gave the girls, who were 14 and 15, alcohol before engaging in sex. He is scheduled to appear in district court for a preliminary hearing on those charges on 25 July (06). A trial date has been set for 18 September (06) and Boyd could face up to 40 years in prison if convicted. This is the latest in a series of scandals that have rocked the reality show - other former contestants have been plagued by allegations of battery, theft and engaging in internet pornography.
