Amy Adams found it easy to play a drug addict in new movie ON THE ROAD as she was already "strung out" on set from nursing her newborn baby through the night.
The actress gave birth to little Aviana in May (10) and began filming the drama with Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst just three months later (Aug10).
Adams was left "exhausted" from juggling motherhood with work, but she's convinced fatigue improved her performance.
She tells Chelsea Handler, "I couldn't (do) method (acting) because I have a baby! When you have a baby and you haven't slept... I was doing nights by myself so I kind of felt like a drug addict anyway.
"I was all strung out - I just went with it. I was exhausted and nursing. I was just a mess."
