Outdoing The Duchess of Cambridge was never going to be easy, but fashion critics were unanimous in their dislike for the purple gown Amy Childs wore to the Military Awards in London this week. The former Only Way is Essex star, 21, teamed the garish creation with sparkly stilettoes and an over-the-top bangle, leaving her looking like a "Quality Street", according to the UK's Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, the Duchess Kate Middleton took to the red carpet in an elegant Alexander McQueen floor length black dress - leaving many critics labelling her the best dressed of the evening. In fairness, it had been a hectic day for Childs, who had been signing memorabilia for hundreds of teenagers who flocked to her new salon in Brentwood, Essex. Just moments before attending the awards ceremony, Amy tweeted fans, "Thanks to everyone that came to my signing today loved meeting you all xxx". The Military awards, held at The Imperial War Museum in London to honour the armed forces, certainly brought out the stars en masse. David Beckham appeared with his sons Romeo and Brooklyn, while Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha also stopped to pose for photographers on the red carpet.
Those who rivalled Middleton for the title of best dressed included singer turned television presenter Louise Middleton, mother-of-two Myleene Klass and dancing stars Ola and James Jordan.
