The SPIDER-MAN sequel has fought off acclaimed comedy Anchorman and King Arthur to stay at the top of the American box office.

The web-slinger made another $46 million (GBP25.5 million) in its second weekend on release to almost double second-place Anchorman's debut take.

King Arthur entered the box office charts with a respectable $15.2 million (GBP8.4 million), according to studio estimates released yesterday (11JUL04). Meanwhile, Michael Moore's controversial FAHRENHEIT 9/11 has grossed over $80 million (GBP44.4 million) in three weeks with another healthy $11 million (GBP6.1 million) weekend take.
