Actor Andrew Garfield almost suffocated on the set of new movie The Amazing Spider-man after failing to realise his iconic spandex suit wasn't water-proof.
The Social Network star plays lead character Peter Parker in the upcoming superhero reboot and Garfield confesses he nearly passed out while shooting an action scene as he failed to learn proper breathing techniques required for the sequence.
He tells the New York Daily News, "I had to get wet, and I just kind of dove in and didn't realise that water on the mask made it impossible to breathe. So I was kind of, like, suffocating. I couldn't get any oxygen! I water-boarded myself."
Luckily the 28 year old's fight coordinator, Andy Armstrong, spied the actor's struggle and jumped in to free him from the constrictive outfit.
