British actor Andy Serkis has lambasted former U.K. prime minister Tony Blair and U.S. president GEORGE W. Bush over the war in Iraq - insisting they span a web of "lies" to citizens of both countries. The King Kong star has hit out at the politicians for not listening to the public, who fiercely opposed the invasion of Iraq nearly five years ago (03). U.S. and British forces launched the invasion because Blair and Bush claimed they wanted to disarm the country of its weapons of mass destruction and end Saddam Hussein's support of terrorism. Serkis says, "I feel very strongly about that issue, about the overthrow of the UN (United Nations) and the lies about going into Iraq. I think not listening to what your country is saying is probably not the best thing to do if you're in charge of them. "Tony Blair really should have listened when two million people went marching on the streets of London."
