Angelina Jolie and Britain's Secretary of State William Hague have a penned a joint article outlining their plans to stamp out rape in conflict zones around the world.

The Wanted star, who is also a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the politician are set to host over 100 representatives from countries around the globe, the heads of eight United Nations agencies and close to 1,000 experts in London at the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict later this month (10-13June14).

And, in a piece published by editors at Britain's Sunday Times newspaper, the pair outlines its plans for the summit, promising to "launch the first international protocol on how to document and investigate sexual violence in conflict" and "ask countries to bring their laws on rape and sexual violence into line with international standards."

The two unlikely friends and collaborators also state they are calling "for all soldiers and peacekeepers to be trained to understand and prevent war-zone sexual violence."

Jolie and Hague close the editorial piece by writing, "It is in our power to remove rape as a weapon of war from the world's arsenal of cruelty. And it is in our hands to treat victims not as social outcasts, but as courageous survivors."
