After a seven year rift, Angelina Jolie and her famous father Jon Voight finally patched things up last year, and the pair were in high spirits at the Los Angeles premiere of the actress's directorial debut In The Land of Blood and Honey on Thursday evening (December 8, 2011).
According to the UK's Daily Mail, Angelina, 36, looked stunning in a navy blue Romona Keveza dress and Jimmy Choo shoes as she made her entrance on the red-carpet with partner Brad Pitt. The couple sent the crowds at Hollywood's Arclight Theatre into a frenzy as they held hands and posed for photographers, though it was Voight's embrace with his daughter that received the evening's warmest applause. The 72-year-old, still best known for his Oscar-winning role in Midnight Cowboy, looked delighted to see Angelina as they hugged and held hands on the red carpet. The pair's problems began in 2002, after Voight gave an interview on U.S. television claiming Angelina had "serious mental problems" after she had adopted Cambodian-born son Maddox. The actor attempted to regain contact with Jolie following her mother's death in 2007, and finally received a response, with Brad's blessing, in late 2009.
It turned out to be a family affair at Thursday's premiere, as Angelina's older brother James was also in attendance with his girlfriend Ashley Reign. The actress' friend Gwen Stefani also made the trip, as did the stars of the controversial new movie, which revolves around a Muslim woman Aija who falls in love with a Serbian man.
