Angelina Jolie claims motherhood is the "greatest adventure of all".

The 'Salt' actress - who raises adopted Maddox, eight, Pax, six, Zahara, five, and biological kids Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with partner Brad Pitt - is best known for appearing in action movies and is constantly seeking new experiences outside of work, but insists nothing compares with being a parent.

She said: "I fly planes, ride bikes with Brad and travel to uncharted territories but the greatest adventure of all is having children.

"Our kids are very much a part of everything we do."

The 35-year-old star - whose mother Marcheline Bertrand died of cancer in 2007 - claims she has always been adventurous and is delighted to see some of her traits echoed in her children.

She added: "I was always fearless and now I have those fearless kids - Pax and Shiloh.

"I had a very strong mother. She was the kindest and most loving person I had ever known in my life and her faith and integrity were so strong they were unbreakable.

"I now live with three very strong women - my daughters Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne."

The brunette beauty and her 46-year-old partner always travel with their children and they hope their globe-trotting adventures will teach the youngsters more about life.

Angelina explained to the New Straits Times newspaper: "The more I travel, the more excited I am about life and its possibilities.

"I hope to raise my children in such a way so that they are exposed to many of life's experiences."
