Angelina Jolie most terrifying experience as a Unicef ambassador was when Sierra Leone authorities tried to confiscate her passport - and her identity.

The actress was in the world's poorest country earlier this year (03) on a fact-finding mission when guards took her hostage and demanded to see her passport.

She recalls, "I was hiding in the corner of a little room because officials were outside trying to get my passport.

"They were known for cutting up passports so you have no way out.

"I don't know what I would have done. At least I knew that if I didn't return in a few weeks, somebody would notice."
