Jolie Set To Stamp Out Poverty In Sierra Leone
Screen siren Angelina Jolie is jetting to Africa to meet Sierra Leone president AHMED TEJAN KABBAH in a bid to raise international awareness of the poverty stricken country.
The 29-year-old beauty, who meets the leader this week (11MAY05), intends to persuade richer nations to give financial support to the troubled country - which was ripped apart by civil war in 1991.
She says, "Sierra Leone is still scarred by the war, but the people have invested a great deal of courage and hope in the truth and reconciliation process.
"It is vital that the government acts on the (Truth + Reconciliation Commission) recommendations to ensure that history will not repeat itself."09/05/2005 21:20
