PIRATES 4, the highly anticipated next instalment in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise is set to be "a completely different beast", according to screenwriter Terry Rossio. The trailer for the new film, which has the full title of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides', is set to hit the web today, and the movie's cast and crew having been speaking to USA Today about the return of Captain Jack Sparrow.
As several official photographs from the film begin to circulate around the internet, fans of the adventure movies are anticipating the first glimpse of Johnny Depp in the much loved role. The 47-year-old actor, who's currently starring alongside Angelina Jolie in 'The Tourist', recently spoke about the making of the movie, saying, "What's most interesting about Pirates 4 is you don't have to connect the dots for these subplots and sub-characters. It felt like a fresh, clean slate". Depp also spoke about his 'Pirates 4' co-star Penelope Cruz, saying, "We have our bouts in the film, but there's also this residue of what might have been. It's a kind of love-hate thing... there's a little flavour of both".
It was recently reported that the Hollywood actor wasn't movie bosses first choice to play the maverick pirate, but Depp has since made the character one of the most recognisable creations in recent years, and speaking about 'Captain Jack', he said, "He can talk his way out of anything, get out of any situation. But there is also a side to him that can't stand for grave injustice". 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' is set to be released on May 21st 2011.
