It was an emotional affair on Ann Curry's last turn on morning entertainment show Today yesterday morning, however it seems that the show and it's executives were counting down the seconds to see the back of her, with no passing mention to the presenter being made once on the following episode.
Ann's replacement Savannah Guthrie was seated cosily in Curry's former chair next to co-anchor Matt Lauer, with no mention of the Curry-sized elephant in the room at any point. It was as if the tearful goodbye from Curry the day before had never happened as the camera cut straight to the two anchors, as they launched right into the morning's top stories without so much as a mention form the announcer.
The reshuffle comes as NBC tries to fight back in the ratings war against ABC's Good Morning America, which earlier this year ascended back to the top of the ratings for the first time in 16 years.
The disposal of Curry has caused some controversy for the brutal way that her exit has handled, and how open the whole affair was - having been known about for some time.
Lauer, who put a supportive arm around Curry on her last appearance during her teary farewell, is said to have been instrumental in her axing.
