INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE author Anne Rice is in fresh talks to bring Tom Cruise's famous blood-sucking character back to life in a new big screen project.
The writer's gothic novel, published in 1976, was turned into a hit movie in 1994 with Cruise as vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, starring alongside Brad Pitt, Christian Slater and a young Kirsten Dunst.
Rice reveals she's in new negotiations to revamp her most famous character after years of discussions with studio executives - but she warns fans not to get too excited.
She tells the Associated Press, "We're in talks about it (bringing de Lioncourt to the screen). But then we've always been in talks about it. Hope springs eternal in California."
