SIR Anthony Hopkins refused to perform his own stunts on new motorcycle movie THE WORLD'S FASTEST INDIAN - because he was too scared of killing himself.

The Welsh-born star appears in the real-life tale of New Zealander BURT MUNRO, who set the land speed world record at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats in the 1970s riding a 1920 Indian motorcycle he build himself.

But Hopkins, 67, has never ridden a motorbike - so a stunt rider took his place.

He says, "I didn't do my own stunts because if you have an accident that's the end of your life and career. I used to do stunts when I was younger but not any longer."
