Director Antoine Fuqua has reportedly been fired from the forthcoming Denzel Washington film TRU BLU.

According to American gossip site PAGESIX.COM, the Training Day movie maker was "unceremoniously let go" from the crime thriller, which is set to begin filming in New York and North Carolina in two weeks (begs18OCT04).

The film tells the story of heroin smuggler FRANK LUCAS, who imported the narcotic into America in the funeral caskets of US soldiers, killed during the Vietnam war.

The movie is produced by BRIAN GLAZER and Ron Howard of IMAGINE ENTERTAINMENT and also stars Benicio Del Toro.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS are yet to make comment on the reports.
