MGMT have a song about a ''parasitic alien'' on their new album.

The 'Kids' band - Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser - are working on their third record in New York state and promise it will be even more psychedelic than their last record, 'Congratulations'

Andrew explains how one track, 'Alien Days', is ''about that feeling when a parasitic alien is in your head, controlling things,'' adding: ''We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it.''

The group's latest sound is influenced by ''Aphex Twin and house records'' and they also insist they are not being pressured by their record company to write hits.

Andrew added to Rolling Stone magazine: ''There's no illusion on their part that we're going to turn into a Top 40 band. That's kind of comforting.''

The pair have been getting ideas for new music by programming synth loops in one room of their practice studio then moving to the next and layering further instruments on top of it.

Ben explained: ''We'll get involved in what we're doing, and the next thing we know, we've been improvising for five hours.''

No release date or title for the record have been set, but the band are tentatively hoping to have it ready by June.
