Archie Panjabi is hoping to take a break from acting after her departure from The Good Wife so she can spend some time with her family.

The British actress has portrayed investigator Kalinda Sharma in the drama since 2009, but she is leaving at the end of the current sixth season.

Panjabi, 42, has now revealed she wants to treat herself to a long break from work when her time on the hit show comes to an end.

She tells Britain's Sunday Express magazine, "The six years have been an amazing ride, but I do miss getting to family gatherings like weddings and births. It would be great to take some time out."

Panjabi's final episodes of The Good Wife are expected to air later this year (15). She has reportedly landed a deal with studio executives at 20 Century Fox Television to star in a new drama pilot.
