Soul singer Aretha Franklin has cancelled her homecoming concert in Michigan citing heat exhaustion. The Respect hitmaker was scheduled to play in Detroit on Sunday evening (12Aug07), but was forced to call off the concert after weather forecasters predicted sunshine and highs of 30 degree Celsius (86 degree Fahrenheit). The veteran star says two recent outdoor gigs had been "sweltering and all but overwhelming" and could not "tolerate heat in these extremely high numbers and being in concert simultaneously". Franklin adds she hopes the Detroit event would be rescheduled.
