Actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger paid a brief visit to Jordan's KING ABDULLAH in Amman following his trip to Israel at the weekend (1-2MAY04), to learn more about the peace process in the Middle East.
The California governor arrived from Jerusalem to visit Abdullah at the royal's private residence BEIT AL-BARAKEH (HOUSE OF BLESSING) in the Jordanian capital.
Government officials believe the King and Schwarzenegger would discuss peace in the Middle East and the Iraq war.
The impromptu meeting with King Abdullah was arranged after Arab-Americans in southern California criticised the End of Days actor's trip, because he had not met any Arabs.
SABIHA KAHN, a spokeswoman for the California branch of the COUNCIL ON AMERICAN-ISLAMIC RELATIONS, called the Jordan visit "a good step in the right direction", but said he should have visited the West Bank and Gaza Strip instead of just meeting the Jewish residents.04/05/2004 17:28
