Lady GaGa is to receive a style award from the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CDFA).

The 'Born This Way' hitmaker - who is known for her eccentric clothing choices, including a meat dress which she caused worldwide controversy by wearing last year - is to be presented with The Fashion Icon accolade at this year's CDFA Awards in New York on June 6.

However, Lady Gaga isn't the only star to be nominated at the annual ceremony.

Designer Diane Von Furstenberg - who is the current president of the CDFA - revealed fashionista twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been nominated in the womenswear category for emerging talent for their collection The Row, which will see them go up against Joseph Altuzarra and Prabal Gurung.

Elsewhere, US designer Marc Jacobs will pick up the lifetime achievement gong and is also up for Womenswear Designer of the Year.

However, Marc emailed Diane Von Furstenberg prior to the nomination announcement, saying he thinks the accolade should be renamed the "half-lifetime achievement" award because he isn't old enough to receive it.

She explained: "I told him that I'm much older than him and I'm still kicking."
