Ashton Kutcher has been announced as Charlie Sheen's replacement on the CBS sitcom 'Two and a Half Men'.

After plans to reboot the series without Charlie Sheen, who had been fired last March for trading public insults with series creator Chuck Lorre, Ashton Kutcher is now set to replace the troubled star on the upcoming ninth series of the show. Digital Spy reports Kutcher said in a statement: 'I can't wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers' homes. I can't replace Charlie Sheen but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people.' Chuck Lorre further stated: 'We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family. Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together.'

Today (14 May 2011), Sheen already offered his congratulations by tweeting: 'The show must go on... You got the right guy!' Ashton Kutcher is also set to appear in the romantic-comedy 'New Year's Eve' alongside Robert De Niro and Katherine Heigl at the end of the year.
