Pop royalty Beyonce has been cast to play Queen Tara in the upcoming star-studded CGI movie 'Epic' according to Deadline.com.

From the makers of 'Ice Age' and 'Rio', 'Epic' is the story of a teenage girl who gets magically transported into an alternative world and finds herself in the middle of a battle between the dark forces of evil and the forces of good. She joins a team of various weird and wonderful characters to help save the mysterious world and, in turn, her own world. Beyonce will star alongside Colin Farrell ('Phonebooth', 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus') as Ronin, Amanda Seyfried ('Mean Girls', 'Red Riding Hood') as Mary Katherine and Josh Hutcherson ('The Hunger Games') as Nod, not to mention other musicians such as Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and rapper Pitbull, and 'Jackass' stuntman Johnny Knoxville.

This endearing movie will be released in movie theaters on May 24th next year (2013) and will be Beyonce's first film since she took time off for maternity leave, though she is also rumored to star in Clint Eastwood's 'A Star is Born' alongside Tom Cruise. Other movie stints include her role as Foxxy Cleopatra in the 'Austin Powers' film 'Goldmember' and Deena Jones in 'Dreamgirls'.
