Avril Lavigne has been praised as a great cook by her husband Chad Kroeger.

The 'Complicated' singer and her new husband have been enjoying married life since tying the knot in July, and the Nickelback rocker made sure to gush about his wife's cooking skills during their first joint interview as newlyweds on 'Entertainment Tonight Canada'.

He said: ''I could burn water, [but] she's an amazing cook.''

Avril remained modest about her culinary skills, as she replied: ''I just go with the flow and kinda see what's in the fridge and then start.''

Chad continued to praise his spouse, claiming that she cooks so well he enjoys every bite, and doesn't need a pet to help get rid of unpleasant meals.

He added: ''Yeah, but you never miss. I've never tasted one thing that you've put on the table where I was like, 'I wish I had a dog!' That's never happened.''

The happy couple have been enjoying the honeymoon period of their relationship as the 38-year-old rocker explained: ''Married life's good. It's been 94 days. I could give you, like, to the hour if needed. Happy wife, happy life. I think every man learns that quick. Really quick.''

Avril - who previously exchanged vows with Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley - admitted she loves Chad because he's such a ''gentleman'' and always lets her choose which movie they watch.

Chad popped the question to Avril, 29, last August after just one month of dating before tying the knot at a ceremony in the South of France in July.
