The Backstreet Boys celebrated after receiving a Hollywood star on the Walk of Fame yesterday (22.04.13)

The boy band - consisting of A.J. McLean, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell - were over the moon to receive the commemorative plaque, which takes prime location next to Boyz II Men's star.

Speaking to a crowd of fans, Kevin Richardson, 40, said: ''What an honour it is. What a beautiful day. What another beautiful way to celebrate 20 years together.''

The band are keen to return with a bang and will release a new album later this year, as well as heading out on tour in May and releasing a music documentary in 2014.

Nick, 33, added: ''Backstreet is Back ... and we aren't going anywhere.''

The band - who are the top selling boy band of all time - have sold more than 130 million records worldwide since first forming in Florida in 1993.
