U.S. punk icons Bad Brains are to return to their native Washington, D.C. for an election night (04Nov08) concert, almost 20 years after they were banned from city clubs.
As America votes for a new President, the original line-up of the Banned In D.C. group will perform at the 9.30 Club in the U.S. capital.
Bad Brains were told they were no longer welcome at city venues after a series of near riots at hometown shows.
As a result, the band steered clear of Washington on tours and only returned for a 2000 show - as Soul Brains.
A spokesman for the band says, "It was an unofficial ban, but the band understood they weren't welcome at venues in Washington, D.C. "The election night show is a triumphant homecoming of sorts - and so far no one is opposing the show."
