Band Aid 20's DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS? has topped the UK singles chart in spectacular style - by selling more than all the other top 40 records combined.

The charity track, which is raising money to combat the famine crisis in Sudan, sold over 300,000 copies in its first week of release, knocking I'LL STAND BY YOU by Girls Aloud down from number one to number four.

ICE CUBE FEAT MACK 10 + MS TOI are a new entry at number two with YOU CAN DO IT, while last week's (28NOV04) second placed song, LOSE MY BREATH by Destiny's Child, falls to number three.

Green Day's BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS is another new entry at number five.

In the British album charts, U2's HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB retains the top spot for a second week, ROBBIE WILLIAMS' GREATEST HITS climbs a place to number two, while Eminem's Encore drops a position to number three.

Singing quartet Il Divo's eponymous album is at number four, while KYLIE MINOGUE's ULTIMATE KYLIE is this week's (05DEC04) number five.
