U.S. President Barack Obama is set to host a special screening of Oscar-nominated film Selma in the White House in Washington, D.C. on Friday (16Jan15).

The film portrays the 1965 Alabama civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, which was headed by Martin Luther King, Jr.

Editors at Variety.com report that the U.S. leader has invited members of the cast and crew to view the film with him in the White House Family Theater.

It was announced on Thursday (15Jan15) that Selma has been feted with two Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Original Song.
