Barbra Streisand, Cybill Shepherd and Pierce Brosnan are among a long list of Hollywood big-shots who are urging Californians to vote against the effort to recall Governor Gray Davis.

The stars are among dozens who joined forces to take out a full-page ad in Hollywood trade publication DAILY VARIETY today (03OCT03) headlined, "On Tuesday, October 7th, join us. Vote no on the recall."

The move, made by actors, producers, writers and studio chiefs, will come as a blow to TERMINATOR star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is the current favourite to take on the coveted position.

The high-profile names in the ad include Amy Pascal, chairman of Sony's COLUMBIA PICTURES, which distributed the Schwarzenegger films THE 6TH DAY and LAST ACTION HERO; and RON MEYER, president and chief operating officer of VIVENDI UNIVERSAL ENTERTAINMENT, which distributed the Austrian star's End of Days and Junior.

Also on the list is TV commentator and columnist Arianna Huffington, who recently abandoned her independent candidacy in the election.
