Rapper Beanie Sigel will release his new album two weeks before he checks into prison.
The 38 year old, real name Dwight Grant, was sentenced to serve two years behind bars for tax evasion on Thursday (12Jul12) and he has been ordered to turn himself in to authorities in Pennsylvania by 12 September (12).
But, instead of counting down the days to his punishment, Sigel is putting in the extra work to ensure his project This Time can hit retailers on 28 August (12).
Chris Schwartz, his label boss at Ruffhouse Records, says, "Regardless of this unfortunate situation, Beanie has created a tremendous body of work that is totally worthy of the Ruffhouse name."
The hip-hop star was convicted of failing to file his federal income tax returns between the years 2003 and 2005, allegedly racking up $348,077 (£217,548) in back payments.
