The Beastie Boys and Red Hot Chilli Peppers are among the latest glut of acts to be inducted into the prestigious Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and they'll be joined by GUNS N' ROSES and British 60s beat combo The Small Faces who of course went on to become Rod Stewart's famous Faces in the 1970s.

THE Beastie Boys influence is far reaching, with the four-piece having made the hugely bold crossover from hardcore punk to hip-hop in 1984. Mixing those rock sensibilities with the blossoming creativity of hip-hop, Mike D, MCA, AD-Rock and Mix Master Mike went on to sell more than 40 million albums worldwide including 1986's classic 'Licensed To Ill' which went nine times platinum in the US and yielded their biggest hit 'Fight For Your Right (To Party)'.

THE Red Hot Chilli Peppers meanwhile have been an often combustible force since their formation in Los Angeles in 1983, with a history of drug abuse at times meaning their line-up has resembled something of a revolving door policy. However, through it all, the music has consistently shone through, the group's funk rock leading them to seven Grammy Awards and sales of over 70 million worldwide. On hearing of the news, the group's co-founder and vocalist Anthony Kiedis told Rolling Stone magazine, "I called my dad and cried, the most emotional part for me was thinking about [late Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist] Hillel Slovak . . . It's really kind of his induction that I'm the most excited about," continuing, it really fills my heart with the reality of how much we love doing what we do, and how much Flea and I love each other. We have stuck together through thick and thin and we want to keep on trucking and continuing to do what it is we do." The ceremony will be held on April 14th 2012 at the Cleveland's Public Hall.
