The photographer who captured The Beatles for their controversial Yesterday And Today album cover has died.
Robert Whitaker passed away on Tuesday (20Sep11) after a long battle with cancer. He was 71.
The British snapper met the Fab Four in 1964 while he was working in Australia and became famed for his snapshots of the rock icons during their early career.
He shot the cover for 1966's Yesterday and Today, which featured Paul MCCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison surrounded by slabs of meat and butchered and bloody dolls. The graphic image was subsequently covered up upon its release in the U.S.
