The Beatles Assistant: 'Lazy Lennon Was Always Sleeping' - Comments and Message Board

Some people need more sleep than others, especially creative types. I'm sure his mind was dreaming up good stuff as he slept.

I do agree with Joshua and Buzz,John didn't really like George in the early years, remember George was like 3 years younger and John kinda resented that. He did hang out with him in the later years but still felt George was inferior to him. How wrong he was, George proved that he was just as good when he did "Something"(the most beautiful Beatles song ever!)

To me, it sounds like Bramwell grew some nasty feelings towards John. I understand that Lennon was responsible for a lot of tension in the band, but I have trouble believing Bramwell when he calls John a bastard. Didn't either Paul or George (I don't remember which one) say in the Anthology that the two of them shared a mic because it looked good? Paul was left-handed and George was right-handed. Furthermore, wasn't John the original sole front man? It only would have made sense that he wouldn't share a mic.

Tony Bramwell didn't really know John Lennon? Think you need to check your history on who Tony Bramwell is. He grew up with them in Liverpool and was with them all the way through the break-up. The man was CEO of Apple Records, so I think he KNEW John.

It was no myth. It's pretty well documented. Most Beatles projects wouldn't have happened from 1967 onward, if it was up to John. He was either sleeping or too stoned. He was even too stoned to work half the time when he was in the studio. I think I believe someone that was actually there, then opinions from fans and weren't there.

And the myth continues . . . if it wasn't for Paul, etc. I guess Tony Bramwell did not really know John Lenon, at a minimum ever read anything about him. It was not about laziness, Lennon was depressed, something he openly admitted on a number of occasions. Anyone who knows anything about depression knows sleeping is a symptom of the illness. If Bramwell was informed he wouldn't make such an ignorant statement, or perhaps if wasn't so enamored with Paul he'd know that. Need Paul brownie points Bramwell?
