American singer Belinda Carlisle loves living in France because they celebrate older women and young men still try to "pick" her up.

The HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH, 45, who lives with her golfer husband MORGAN MASON and their 11-year-old son James, is amazed at how much more respected women are than in America - where an ageist attitude still prevails in the entertainment industry.

Carlisle says, "In the States you're invisible if you're over 35 and I think that's disgusting. I was dropped by my record label as soon as I hit 40.

"But in France I've noticed it doesn't matter. The French really celebrate what it is to be a woman. I still get young boys trying to pick me up."
