Ben Gibbard, frontman of the alternative rock group Death Cab For Cutie, has maintained his Twitter silence after splitting from wife Zooey Deschanel. The couple's representative told US Weekly Magazine they had separated after two years of marriage.
35-year-old Gibbard last 'tweeted' his wife in mid-September, re-tweeted her New York magazine cover story, saying, "Check out this amazing article about my lovely wife!". However, the musician hasn't touched his usually active account since Halloween, when he told fans, "I went to 2 football games this weekend: One college, one pro. I miss baseball already". Meanwhile, Zooey has been typically alive on her Twitter account, encouraging followers to watch her new television show 'New Girl', saying yesterday, "It's Tuesday, and you know what that means... There's a brand new episode of newgirl on Tonight at 9/8c!!". ". According to the UK's Daily Mail, she had attended Kate Hudson's Halloween party in Pacific Palisades, California, with a group of close friends.
The couple's representative said the split was mutual and amicable, with a source claiming there was no third party involved in the decision. Gibbard and Deschanel tied the knot in Seattle, Washington, in September 2009. Until now there had been little or no reports of disharmony in their relationship.
