Rising British actor Ben Whishaw has landed the role of Q in upcoming James Bond movie Skyfall, according to a U.K. report.
The classically trained star will follow in the footsteps of fellow Brits Desmond Llewelyn and John Cleese after signing up to portray the Quartermaster gadget expert in the 23rd superspy outing.
At 31, Whishaw is 12 years younger than 007 star Daniel Craig, making him the youngest actor ever to play the Mi6 worker.
A source tells The Sun, "He'll be a big draw. It's a bold decision as it means Q will be younger than Bond for the first time. His role will be very different from previous Qs. He'll be far more serious, as is the trend with the new films."
